The convention was a great success! T hanks to all that donated to the auction — members and vendors. Robert Smith, our auctioneer did a great job. Robert nicknamed Belin Watson “Santa Claus” for his white hair and beard! An auction highlight was “Santa” picking up his bag and going through the crowd collecting money! The bag sold for $200! Thanks Mr. Watson! Again, thanks for everyone’s help. I will be serving as a Board Member for the 5th District and working just as hard as always for the NCTA! — Tonnie E. Davis PRESIDENT’S REPORT My name is Rodney Stancil and I’m the new President of the NCTA. I am excited about the opportunity. We have a lot of great members that are willing to work for the NCTA. I think together we can accomplish our goals. We just had our annual convention on Sept. 25 and 26 in Smithfield, NC. We had a great turnout, especially with the low fur prices and the economy situation. I would like to thank all the people that helped with the setup, demo area, cooks, etc. Also, a special thanks to the vendors that always support us. We had a very good turnout for the feed on Friday night. We had Eastern NC Barbecue, bear, fried snapping turtle, alligator tail, chickens, catfish and a lot of fixin’s. A great turnout for the weekend as far as the weather, which made it better on all of us. For now, that’s all I have. Get your traps ready, and take a kid trapping. — Rodney Stancil |
