The October 2012 issue of Trapper & Predator Caller featured a story about Stan Burt, of Idaho. The veteran predator caller was the first Gem State hunter to record a wolf double. Using a strategy he developed in 2009 during Idaho’s first wolf season, he was able to call in and shoot two wolves within a minute of each other on the second day of the 2011 season.
His wife recorded the memorable hunt. The video quality is not spectacular, but you can hear the howls of wolves as they approach and witness both of the shots.
Burt, who has already logged more than 15 days in the field this season hunting wolves, says wolf hunting quickly became his favorite outdoors pursuit.
“There’s nothing like it,” Burt said. “I’ve killed bear, archery bear, archery elk, coyotes. Hunting wolves was the most thrilling experience and adrenaline rush that I’ve ever had in any experience, any animal.”
